The cause of drug abuse is not known, or understood why people can abuse drugs but briefly can stop without difficulty, but on the other hand there are risk factors for drug abuse, a person becomes addicted in many ways single status (separated or divorce), Biology: The genes that people are born with—in combination with environmental influences—account for about half of their addiction vulnerability. Additionally, gender, ethnicity, and the presence of other mental disorders may influence risk for drug abuse and addiction. Environment: A person’s environment influences—from family and friends to socioeconomic status and quality of life in general. Factors such as peer pressure, physical and sexual abuse, stress and parental involvement can greatly influence addiction or abuse, insomnia, boredom, or life stresses (financial difficulties, retirement, loss of spouse or family member). Competition from the streets keeps dispensary prices low because the street dealers don’t have to pay taxes or building costs. We need to implement a standard set of policy measures. That will let drug dealers know if you get caught selling drugs of any kind you’re going to do some major time. Let addicts know if they get caught using or stop by any authority; while they are high on drugs they will be forced into a rehabilitation center whether it 's kids or adults, not prison us taxpayers still have to pay taxes when they send them to jail, we need a policy ethic that’s going to scare them and that we know will work instead of continuously wasting millions of dollars. Now that I’m sitting here thinking there are options the government has that helps those who are out there seeking treatment. Which is good because they have: Detoxification, 12-step program, support from your loved ones, several kinds of therapy, support groups and many other ways or programs to help with treatment some are free, and some are costly but it’s about if you are willing to change your life around and go back to the social norm you use to be before
