Drug abuse in urban areas across Tennessee have grown in recent years. Individuals do not realize that the addiction to a drug such as marijuana and cocaine, not only affects the person with the addiction but the families surrounding them. For instance, having an addiction to a specific drug can start arguments with a spouse or relative because those that are addicted will no longer see anything such as rent, car note, electricity as a priority. The drug becomes the main point of focus. This is not only damaging to and individuals health, but can hurt those within the community by stressing, or putting them in harms way. On the other hand, not all drugs are illegal drugs. There are individuals that are addicted to drugs that can only be prescribed …show more content…
For instance, a female that is single, no kids, and works two jobs can go home on the weekends pour a nice glass of wine, and go to bed. However, some individuals have to have a drink every day, for every meal. Alcohol not only messes with your mind and thought process but if someone were to drink an entire bottle of alcohol and decide they want to go joy riding this can potentially kill them, along with others within our society. Alcohol abuse can lead to violence within individuals. Once again it does not allow the mind to think properly, so someone can think they are lightly touching someone but actually beating them to death, and once the alcohol wears off, they are at loss for words once they see the damage they have …show more content…
One of the most common sexually transmitted diseases is Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and 2. There is no cure for herpes, however, there are also cases where an individual will not know they have herpes. Some of the most common symptoms are flu symptoms. When a person gets sick they naturally take medicine and within a few days they are back to normal, which is exactly how some herpes cases work. The school systems no longer teach about sexually transmitted diseases, and so by the time a child is in college, or even a senior in high school, they are already having intercourse without know the knowledge of what can happen if they do not protect themselves from transmitted
