All public schools in escambia county have filters blocking websites the school board deems unfit. They deem the website unfit based on keywords located on the website. It does not matter if the website can be used as a tool for learning. If it has the wrong keywords it is not fit for school. The web Filters at Booker T. Washington are too restrictive.
Many websites are blocked on school devices and school property. Any website that contains violence or drugs is immediately blocked even if it can be used as a tool for learning. In health classes it is important to know the effects of drugs and why you shouldn't do them but if you do not have access to this knowledge you will never know why drugs are bad. Violence is everywhere in today's society
