Dropping Atomic Bombs

Decent Essays
The US was smart to drop those atomic bombs. In 1941, Japan dropped some bombs on Pearl Harbor. Then, the US used code breakers to figure out that Japan was going to try and take Midway but we met them there and bombed them for revenge. Then we took back some other islands that Japan took. Japan would not surrender on Okinawa and Iwo Jima. They even used Kamikazes. President Truman decided that we would lose a bunch of troops trying to take those 2 cities and so he decided to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki with atomic bombs named Fat man/Little boy. With those 2 bombs roughly 225,000 people died. If the US would have fought for those 2 islands we would have a lot more american deaths.

There are several reasons the atomic bomb was necessary to use against Japan towards the end of the Pacific War / World War II. The first most obvious reason was retaliation against Japan’s surprise attack on the United States Naval Base Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. The bombing of Pearl Harbor left the United States with over 2,400 military casualties and 20 destroyed or damaged ships. The attack on Pearl Harbor was one of the sole reasons the United States had declared war on Japan. With the war with Japan still raging on by 1945, United States began closing in on the homeland of Japan.…

Many have dissected the possible outcomes on this scenario and how different it all could have played out if America had chosen not to make the severe military action of dropping the bombs on Japan. During World War II, every country had their methods prepared and their armies on standby to defend their honor and protect their lands. World war two was mainly between the United States of America and Japan. The leader of America at the time, Harry Truman wanted to end the war but the only way they could do this was by unleashing the atomic bombs which is still known as the most terrifying weapon made. After doing research on this topic I believe that America could have ended the war in a more civil way and saved many more lives. They dropped the bombs because they believed that it would avoid further deaths of soldiers on both sides, they wanted to keep Stalin occupied and they believed that it would frighten the Soviet Union. Japan did not want to give up fighting and had a big military, America thought the atomic bombs would scare them.…

Does anyone really know what is right and what is wrong? Everyone thinks they do know, but really no one knows what is right and what is wrong. No? Let’s say an insecure teen is struggling to ‘fit in’, and he/she meets two friends; one is popular, but a drug addict, and the other is quiet and despised for his/her intelligence (the two candidates loathe each other, so the struggling teen has to decide on which friend to choose). Now being an insecure teen, he/she will choose the more popular one because he/she believes that the drug addict will lead him/her to popularity, but this addict will likely force his/her new friend to intoxicate him/herself with illegal narcotics.…

The bombing in Japan showcased the true power of the atomic bomb. In a sense, the world became more cautious in using atomic warfare due to the horrors of its effects. If the US did not use the atomic bombs, other nations would not have as much of a sense of its power. “Since it would certainly be used in the future time,” the bombs could have been used against the US (Source 5). Therefore, using the bombs on Japan may have prevented the US from being bomb with atomic warfare.…

The choice made by Truman to drop the atomic bomb on Japan in WWII on August 6th and August 9th was very wrong, and truly unnecessary. Japan was well ready to surrender, and they hurt thousands of innocent people. The action was wrong because they hurt mostly women, children, and old people while the men were at war. It was unnecessary because Japan was already ready to surrender after two announcements the U.S made. They announced the Soviet Union Army was going to attack Japan, and they also said that if Japan surrenders, they could keep their empire.…

Bomb My book was on the race to build and steal the atomic bomb. The atomic bomb was being created in the U.S and they took some of the smartest people to try to help build it because they were trying to split atoms. It played probably the biggest role in world war 2 because if they had not gotten the 2 bombs made in time the Japanese could have ended up winning the war but instead they got it finished and they dropped them on japan. Maybe the person who played the biggest part in the building of the bomb was Harry Gold a professor for the University Of California who was very smart although one night when he was on a date with a girl he said he needed to take a walk and he never returned.…

Decades after the atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Americans still question whether it was a good idea to drop them. One of the reasons the bombs should have been dropped is the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The United States and Japan were at peace until Japan bombed a military base in Hawaii and afterward, president Franklin D. Roosevelt declared war on Japan. In his well-known infamy speech, FDR stated, “I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese empire.” America and its people saw the bombing as an act of war and in return, they declared war.…
