Airborne Precaution: Is when a person has a known or suspected to have infection that can be transmitted by air route. These contagion are caused by organisms that can be suspended in the air for a long period of time. Examples of airborne disease are tuberculosis, rubeola, Shingles, chickenpox. When working with some with airborne transmission, we should make sure they are in a Negative airflow room to prevent spread of infection, and anyone who is going in the room should wear a HEPA filter mask. Also if the patient is leaving the room should wear HEPA mask as well. Door must be kept closed at all times. I will teach the unlicensed staff how to care for this patient by always wear a HEPA mask, and keep door closed at all times.
