How do you feel about the military using drones? Does it make you uncomfortable? Or does it make you feel safe? Drone use isn’t the best. Why you may ask. Because drone usage causes more terrorists than killing. If a drone was used in a strike attack against a group of terrorists. I believe and it has been shown that this act makes them enraged and want to strike back at the United States. I do not want our military to use drones, I feel safer that they don’t. The United States has tried to stop all kinds of terrorists groups, but so far none have been stopped completely. Ever since 9/11 there has been sixty terrorist plots (Bucci). The 9/11 attack caused many people pain, many people lost a loved one or more. The people of the United States were scarred from this attack. It changed the way people saw the world. Me personally I was not born, but hearing about the attack I can feel and know how the people felt during that time. When there are drones attacks or strikes, it causes the United States to become overwhelmed by the horrors (Cole 75). Keith Shurtleff states that both ethics instructors and US army chaplains, same for soldiers tend to be “physically and psychologically removed from the horrors of battle and see the enemy not as humans but as blips on a screen..” (Cole 75). Does our military not care that not only are the killing innocent people, children in fact, but also breaking the international law? According to “article 6 (1) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, a multilateral treaty adopted by the United Nations, states that “no one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life…” (United Nations). Even with this law, this statement said by the United Nations, we still have not only our U.S. military, but others use drones for bringing death. Death is not easy, it’s like stepping on millions of legos. Hurtful and not easy.
Therefore, I understand why the military uses drones, I can see why. They use drones for an easier way to stop the terrorists groups. And according to a military personnel says the soldiers feel safer when using drones. The use of drones prevents our military to get killed, injured, etc. (Ruder 18). Drones also cost less, meaning our military can save money by buying just drones (“Understanding Dones” 19).
