A US drone strike in Somalia has killed a key leader of the al-Shabaab militant group who was involved in two attacks in Mogadishu more than a year ago (Ackerman). Drone strikes are held accountable for the deaths of multiple key leaders that have committed the murders of innocent people. Other ISIS fighters that helped plan an attack in an airport and the Maka al-Mukarramah hotel were killed in a strike (Ackerman). ISIS and other terrorist organizations have been accounted for more civilian deaths than drone strikes. ISIS has been around since 1999, but has been more prominent in the past few years. Drone strikes help protect the peace in our free world by taking out certain individuals who threaten it. Drone strikes on the leaders and fighters fall under legal authority, which makes them legal and necessary. The United States has the jurisdiction to use self-defense and target ISIS fighters that pose a threat to their national security (Groves). Therefore, makes these drone strikes perfectly legal, and in no violation of international law. The argument with drone strikes has become more evident in the past years, with ISIS being on the rise for a global superpower. While many politicians advocate for a diplomatic solution to this problem, many recent events that were claimed to be by ISIS have lead to a more aggressive view on drone strikes. Therefore, it seems to be logical and the only way for militaries to suppress ISIS and other terrorist organizations. As terrorism is spread throughout our world, and more people are subjected to these conditions, they will develop to be what they have seen. It is shrewd to let these individuals grow up to be terrorist leaders, which is why drone strikes need to be implemented in order to take out recruiters and trainers. This does not mean that alternate solutions can not be used to solve the spread of terrorism and terrorism itself. This means that drone strikes are the most effective solution and should be continued by western military forces
