The leading cause of death for teens in the U.S. is vehicular accidents. Over 5,000 teens die each year from motor vehicles. This brings up the topic “should the driving age be lowered or raised?” According to a national teens driving statistic, 16 year olds, are up to 3 times more likely to get in a fatal accident. However, kids that started out driving at an earlier age tend to be safer. Most 16 year old experience behind the wheel is rudimentary, thus causing mistakes like texting and driving occur more often. Most 16 don’t understand the responsibility it takes to keep a driver license. Attaining a driver's license is a privilege and a responsibility.
