When it comes to purchasing a car, the manual transmission version will always be cheaper. This is because the transmissions are cheaper to make and do not require all the electronics an automatic does. Because there are fewer electronics involved in a manual transmission there is less maintenance because electronics can go bad. With an automatic a transmission fluid flush is needed, but with a manual transmission, there is no regular fluid flush needed. Also on the off chance that your battery dies it is possible to push start your car which requires the car being pushed and the clutch being popped. Performing a push start is only offered on manual transmissions. This availability allows the driver to not need jumping cables or a jump box to start the car if the battery dies. I personally have had this happen and it is very helpful to be able to do this. The only problem is that you need a second person to push the car while you try to start it. The bottom line is that less maintenance will save you money just like the initial purchase will. I personally love that owning a manual can save me money and I know you can
