Driver’s Education Scholarship

There are many reasons why I believe that I deserve the $200 Driver’s Education Scholarship. I had to pay for driver’s ed myself, and the money that was used to pay for it was not given to me. Drivers ed cost me $450, and this summer I had to work 45 hours to earn the money for drivers ed. I did yard work for two different people. One person that I did yard work for, during the summer I mulched their flower gardens, and I also have raked for them, and I did whatever they needed me to do outside. The other person that I do work for is more elderly, so I did work outside, and I also did any odd jobs that she was not able to do. I was not given the luxury of having drivers ed paid for me, and I will not have a

The Dixmont Corner Church was built in 1835, and had an active one room school house next to it that was built in 1808.…

I feel like I am a good candidate for this scholarship because, as a senior, any and all money earned and received will help me ease the burden of attending college. My goal throughout my whole childhood was to receive a full ride scholarship to the college of my dreams; however, as time has gone on and I have matured I have come to the realization that, that dream is not as achievable as I once believed it to be. I have worked hard, inside and outside of the classroom, making the grades and creating the resume that colleges are looking for, and in response I have been offered tuition waivers. Which ultimately means I am still responsible for paying for my books, room and board, part of the tuition cost, and mandatory fees.…

Essay I am grateful for this opportunity to apply for the Viola B. Wilson Endowed Scholarship and the John S. Staley Memorial Fund scholarships. While I am asking for financial help, my work ethic and commitment to education are a strong part of who I am. Growing up, it was my responsibility to pay for things that I wanted, and my parents provided me with work opportunities around the house to earn the money.…

Many students typically receive merit-based scholarships for academic achievements although some can be awarded for special talents or other personal characteristics. If I could give advice to high school students, I would tell them to start searching for scholarship opportunities early instead of waiting to get to college or their senior year like I did. Before going to the need-based aid which is awarded to a student on the basis of financial need, they should always look at the merit- based aids. You are not obligated to pay the money back for merit-based aids unlike some need-based…
