Evaluate the impact of a potential future development in HCI
A driverless car is also known as self-driving, autonomous car which is a robotic vehicle manufactured so that it can sense and navigate within the environment without human input. It uses different techniques such as GPS, radar or computer vision to detect the surroundings. Big companies such as Google, Audi and BMW are already testing the driverless cars to see if it is worth making it. In California, while testing the driverless cars, it navigated 140,000 miles. However, only a single accident occurred where a human was involved driving. But the rest of the miles were successful without any human interaction. Driverless car would work by driver setting up the destination and the software within it would calculate how to go to the certain destination and would start the car. It would then create a 3D map of the surrounding of where the car is. The sensors then detect the position of the car according to the 3D map it created. The artificial intelligence (AI) software allows the sensors to be connected and then processes and controls the steering and the brakes of the car. The system also detects things like traffic, road signs and even buildings around it.

One of the strengths is that it increases the productivity for people as it will take less time to commute to work. They can work while sitting on the car without worrying about the road ahead or pay attention to it. Also, built in sensory system have better persistence of vision than humans as it would detect obstacles or disruption during the journey. Another strength is that it would reduce cost such as fuel or insurance cost for the owner and make their journey more efficient. Another strength is safety. It would reduce car theft as sensors and GPS already installed, it would immediately notify the owner about the location of the car if

A driverless car will require some crazy technology for them to work. There is a lot of different things that go on when a car is driving itself. Some of the major pieces are radio waves(RADAR), laser beams(LIDAR), and sound waves(SONAR). These types of technology all do something different to figure out how far another car is from the driverless car and prevent it from crashing. The car also uses Bill Robertson talks about it in his article “How Do Self-Driving Cars Work?”.…

Self-driving cars will not just bring safer and more efficient roads to society, but it will help push the research in artificial intelligence, alternative fuels, data security, and software design. This is due to the fact that self-driving cars implement all different areas of engineering, like mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering, which must all work together in order to create a self-driving vehicle. These systems created for self-driving cars will be able to be implemented into things like a space craft to automatically adjust trajectories and avoid debris, into robots to create digital views of the world around them and how to adapt to their surroundings, and even into medical equipment that would be able to travel autonomously throughout your…
