Some of the factors include: a family history of alcoholism, the pressure that they face with the transition of becoming a young adult or even the contact that they are having with peers who are involved in deviant activities. The vast majority of the youth have no clue that alcohol is a depressant. Depression and other serious emotional problems affect tons of teens every day. A considerable magnitude of teens faces an unimaginable number of objections during their juvenile years. They are encountering an emotional rollercoaster half the time and aren’t even certain of their feelings. Their feelings are incomprehensible and they become at bay in a world of darkness and depression. The minute the opportunity flashes before their desperate eyes, they are sucked into a world of inadvertently danger. Alcohol advertising with celebrity endorsers, humor, animation and rock music has been shown to be especially appealing to adolescents (Atkin and Block 1983; Grube 1995). Adolescents use television excessively. Alcohol advertising plays a major aspect in influencing the youth to drink. It is actually the direct link between drinking and youth. But what if it isn’t? That does not mean that an 18 year isn’t capable of making sound judgements or have self-control. One of the final steps of brain developing an adult brain is myelination (Wolfe 2015). Myelin is known for increasing the speed of axons and sending signals to both parts of the brain.
