Would you drink during pregnancy if you knew all the bad outcomes there were? Most people would say no but, unfortunately there are still some women who do drink. Because of the negative effects on a baby’s growth, women should not drink during pregnancy. This can cause permanent damage to a developing baby. There is a disorder that many children have called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD). There is also a lot of background behind this disease. Not only that but there are many possible effects on the baby and what they look like if the mom drinks during pregnancy. Criminal behavior, unemployment, and an incomplete education are all considered secondary conditions that can happen when a mother drinks during pregnancy. Also, when children have homes that are too stable, and the children aren’t exposed to any violence their whole lives, it can cause them to have some of these secondary conditions (Source 2).
