To start off, we all know drinking and driving negatively affect those all around, including the drunk driver and those near the drunk driver. Even though we all know how serious drinking and driving is, it is important to know the statistics of drinking and driving to fully comprehend just how dangerous it actually is. In 2016, 10,265 people died in crashes that involved drunk drivers. In 2016, an average of 28 people in the United States of America died in a car crash that involved a person who had been driving drunk. Now, in 2017, it is said that every two minutes a person is injured in a crash by someone who was driving under the influence of drugs. The driver can miss other cars and pedestrians, even if they are right in front of them. Also, because the driver’s reaction rate is slowed down they will not be able to move as quickly so the people around them can easily get hurt. Drink drives injure others because they do not have the brain capacity at that moment to drive a car. Innocent people are hurt, and very often killed by people who are driving under the influence of drugs. The driver does not only harm those outside of the car, but also those inside the car. In 2014, there were 209 kids -- who were under 14 -- that died in car crashes that involved drunk drivers. Out of these 209 kids, over half of them were riding in a vehicle that involved a drunk driver. Many people's lives have been ruined because of some other person's decision to drive. Had the person just decided to avoid the front seat, thousands of lives would be save. It does not matter if you are the best driver in the world, when you drink you give up your mind temporary. You would not let a person who just got out there wisdom teeth to drive, so do not drive under others drugs as well. It does not matter how much you have drank, drinking and driving is not an option.
