(“Should Adults Have”). People say guns are only used to kill, they are use in 83% of murders and also are used in 43% of suicides (Storrs). The Second Amendment in the Constitution gives people the right to carry a handgun (“Should Adults Have”). The minimum age to buy a handgun is 18 and some states require people to be 21 (Storrs). Gun laws are one of the things that won’t get everyone satisfied. Everyone has a different opinion due to either political views or past experience. Some may prefer the idea of gun control or banning guns is the only to stop deaths. According to the National Survey of Law Enforcement, “many proposed gun control measures – including bans on assault weapon – will be ineffective at reducing violent crime and that legal gun ownership by private citizens would prove a better safeguard.” Although having a strict gun control may have it’s benefits when reducing death, we must use gun control moderately to decrease the amount of illegal activity surrounding guns.…

New laws on gun control are being created to ‘help protect citizens’; however, the laws do not always work at their expected caliber. In Chicago, IL crime rates have spiked since the addition of new gun control laws. Not all citizens are going to follow laws only because it is illegal, the only effect the laws are having is removing firearms from law-abiding citizens hands and removing their ability to protect themselves (ProCon.org). Also, gun control laws violate an individual's right the own a gun. Controlling guns with these laws is ineffective and therefore, should not be an action the government is taking.…

Gun control is a very uneasy topic in our country right now, but i believe use more stricter gun laws won’t help anything. Crimes laws even have a chance to rise because people won’t be able to defend themselves from criminals. According from the article Misfires in Gun Control Debate that a study conducted in 2013 showed that the deaths from homicides is over 500,000, but gun have only killed 350,000 people which is still horrible but shows that guns have only caused some of the problems. If you take away guns then people will have no way to defend themselves against criminals and the deaths in America will just keep rising guns level out the playing field. Yes, guns do bad things…

Gun control remains to be one of the most popular debates along with abortion, animal testing, and climate change. What makes gun control so controversial? Well, many people have different views on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which reads as “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Advocates for gun control believe this applies only to police and military, but will gun control actually help reduce crime. I chose to believe that stricter gun laws will not be of help, since countries and states who already have done so have seen little to no difference in crime, criminals will not be affected and still get their hands on…

Although Obama’s intentions may be pure, the gun laws that he and his administration have gotten enacted fail to consider the long term effect that they will have. These laws are created on the faulty premise that the amount of gun crimes and gun violence can be drastically decreased by restricting legally obtained firearms. The fallacy of this premise can be easily established by looking at California which has the strictest gun laws in the country and is still home to one of the U.S.’s top 5 most dangerous cities. Making it tougher to legally obtain a firearm does not promote gun safety or deter gun violence but makes it harder for law abiding citizens to exercise their constitutional right to bear arms. These new laws main purpose is to strengthen the gun purchasing process on both the gun customer and the gun dealer.…
