Drinking and driving is wrong because it can seriously harm someone. When you are intoxicated while driving your judgment becomes impaired and you are unaware of what is going on around you. You could potentially run your car off the road and hit a tree, killing yourself along with other instances. Besides physical harm, it could also ruin your life. If you get caught drinking and driving you could go to jail, pay fines, and get your license suspended as well as having the charges on your record such as an drinking while intoxicated (DWI) or operating while intoxicated (OWI), according to the Iowa DMV laws (1). Many employers are not going to trust someone who has an OWI or DWI on their background because it doesn’t make the company look good having somebody who seems careless working for them.
Lastly, the guilt that follows with drinking and driving. The guilt of taking someone’s life because you wanted to get behind a vehicle intoxicated is unbearable. You have to live with taking away someone’s precious life for the rest of your life. The pain will never go away because you will constantly see things that remind you of what you did. Eventually, the guilt will eat at you and you won’t be able to take it anymore.
As noted above, drinking and driving is wrong to do and shouldn’t ever be done. You can put yourself and the people around you in serious danger all because of alcohol. In the end, it’s not worth taking someone’s life for a sip of
