Drinking Ages The second ranked most watched sport in the United States was started thanks to young bootleggers carrying illegal moonshine. Yes, NASCAR was born from families like the Hatfield and McCoy’s to the Dukes of Hazard, who modified their carts or cars to outwit and outrun the police. In most states the legal purchasing/drinking age in the US has been twenty-one ever since the ratification of the twenty-first amendment. The legal drinking age should be lowered to eighteen, because in today’s culture when one turns eighteen kids are expected to be adults.
When I say Forbidden Fruit most think of the Bible when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Forbidden Fruit is simply something that we know that we are not supposed to have; yet it is the thing we want most. What if instead of being allowed to drink whatever one wants when they turn twenty-one, those who struggle had been eased into the world of alcohol? Lowering the legal drinking age to eighteen will help teach both responsibility and self-control when it comes to drinking any sort of alcoholic beverage. Think of it this way.
