Out of all the songs t choose from, the one with the most meaning to me is “ Drink a Beer” by Luke Bryan. This song was released in 2013, seventeen years after the singer’s brother passed away. Furthermore, “Drink a Beer” is explaining Bryan’s response to his brother’s death and the actions he took after hearing the news.

“Drink a Beer” is a special song to me for two primary reasons. One is the message. Even more so is the artist himself. That being said, both connect with me for the same reason: my sister. Bryan’s message is exemplifying his reaction to his brother’s death. As a sister, listening to this song gives me a realistic-feeling view of how I would feel if I were in that situation. The attachment between siblings is strong as any other. Luke Bryan himself provides my resonation to this song. After seeing him perform live over five times, the experience of his performance has become a tradition for my sister and I. Many inside jokes and memories have been made at those concerts. Jokes aside, “Drink a Beer” really makes us think about what life would be like without one another.

My sister and I share a love and passion for Luke Bryan and his music. Since he is talking about his brother in this song, it strengthens our love of it because we feel a unique connection to it. Even though this song means a lot to me due to the subject matter, it also implies something more. When listening to the lyrics of the song and the actions he took after discovering his brother had passed away, I feel as though I would act in a very similar way if something happened to my sister. “Drink a Beer” impacts me because not only is he talking about losing his brother, but his best friend, which is an experience I hope to never

“I Hold On” by Dierks Bentley addresses the topic of holding onto the things that are important to you. The song starts with him talking about how people are always saying that he should get a new truck, now that he has the money, but he doesn’t want a new truck because of its sentimental value. The theme of “I Hold On” is that you should hold onto the things that you can count on and believe in. In the lyrics, Dierks says “What they don't know is my dad and me, we drove her out to Tennessee, and she's still here and now he's gone” (Dierks Bentley 8-10). Now that his dad has passed, those memories with his dad in that truck mean more to him than having a brand new truck, which is why he holds onto that.…

Before taking this course, I always listened to music that I thought may have been considered country music but never really thought about why each song I’ve chosen to listen too is considered “country”. My all time favorite country music star, is Luke Bryan and his song, “Kick the Dust Up”. It wasn’t until I entered high school, when I began to start listening to country music. Me and my friends would always listen to it as a joke and eventually became something we would listen to while getting ready to go to a country music concert, or getting ready to all sit on the couch and watch the CMA’s. My first country music concert was Luke Bryan, in 2014.…

Being the lyrical genius she is, Swift created the song "Blank Space" in 2014 to defend her position with this preconceived notion. She uses many rhetorical devices to explain her position in this argument against the media. The Crow & The Butterfly A musician’s inspiration for a song can come from anywhere, even their own subconscious, and that proves true in the case of my favorite song “The Crow & The Butterfly” by Shinedown. The singer of the band and the writer of the song, Brent Smith, has said his inspiration came from a dream he had about a mother dealing with the death of a child. The song to me represents loss in any sense that is relevant to the listener. The emotion you feel while listening to the lyrics can speak to anyone in different aspects of their life.…
