Lydia kept her distance from us, but still followed closely behind. Riften was beautiful, and its never-ending autumn season was one of the reasons we'd fallen in love with it and made it our home.
We got in the carriage outside of the Riften Stables and told the coachman our whereabouts. Seryna was smiling widely the whole time, to which I had to smile back.
Lydia sat next to her, watching us intently. Again, she was a good housecarl, but a bit too overprotective. Nonetheless, she did her best to protect us when we needed it, and for that I was thankful.
