Dress For Success Essay

Our company, Dress for Success, will focus on the creation of a mobile washer & dryer truck for the homeless. We believe that clean clothes and “dressing for success” will change the mentality of the homeless population and help set them up to better succeed in getting back into working-class society. This mobile operation will look for sponsorship help through various organizations such as Salvation Army, UniFirst Uniform Services, and different homeless shelters. Through the help of sponsorships we will provide a clean set of clothes (preferably interview dress-code worthy) to change into while we wash the dirty clothes. Our core team will consist of the four founders, Austin Donovan-Reed, Ian Ballard, Matthew Bonafede, and Sarah Buckley. Core managers handle financials, relationships with sponsors, and aid clients in finding jobs. We then plan to expand on a volunteer basis until we are able to support paid employees. These individuals will help with operational manners such as running the laundry services. Since Rochester has such a large population of homeless individuals, this company has a great market potential. With our support, clients will be more prepared to enter the workforce by dressing professionally and receiving basic instruction on interview techniques. In order to receive funding and startup costs, we plan to partner with various businesses in the area and reach out to local philanthropic agencies. We are in the process of applying for a grant with the Rochester Area Foundation in order to begin production on our mobile washer/dryer station. We hope to receive a total of $30,000 in order to purchase a large enough van to support our
