Reporter, Tara Deschamps published a report on dress codes on Toronto students. Alex Halket had never been suspended or expelled in her 14 years of being in school. Nevertheless, it came to pass when she decided to go to class in a bare midriff with sleeveless and black patterned crop top. Since then, she has not stepped in her principal’s office. Halket’s vice principal pulled her into the office and told her that the dress code was too inappropriate and looked too much like a bra. She did not agree with this, and she organised a 90 minutes meeting that spread the news like a wild fire over the social media that evening. They had a goal that was standing in solidarity against people that were making women cover their bodies since it is offensive and inappropriate. They stated that boys were allowed to run around the gym and school yards shirtless. They also explained that they were trying to love and appreciate their bodies even with a dress code.
