Have you ever heard of a shirt hurting a student? Yeah me neither so why make a big deal about it? Almost 60 percent of schools enforce a strict dress code (1). Schools should pay more attention to our learning instead of our clothes. Believe it or not but even teachers are told what to wear and what not to wear. No one gets to enjoy their freedom anymore because we are being told what to wear. There should be no dress code because dress codes have ruined events, taken away our freedom of style, and have crossed the line with how we should dress like. Dress codes have ruined a lot of school events. Dances, Games, Prom a bunch of girls are getting kicked out of prom because their dress does not go with the dress code. We don’t have the right to wear what we want. Teachers don’t understand that the clothes we buy is what we like and the stores are selling shirts with open spaces, holes, pants that are ripped. We can’t help it that our local store sells these types of clothes. People have the right to wear whatever they decide and no one can tell them no. Everyone has a different taste in clothes some people don’t like showing skin and others do but this doesn’t mean that you can’t wear it because of some code. “All citizens of the United States have a right to freedom of expression granted by the first amendment”
