Creating memories is one of the most beautiful and happy moments for an individual especially if those moments are with their loved ones. Although memories can last forever, people do not live forever. Anything can happen today, tomorrow or the day after, but the real question is how can an individual endure the pain of a lost one? In past times African American people were discriminated against and segregated, making a lot of people stand up for their rights in different ways. The speech written by Martin Luther King, “I have a dream” and the poem written by Langston Hughes, “Harlem”, both of them talk about the times of the brutality over African American people. The two works are similar because they both talk about African Americans not having the right of freely expressing their dissatisfaction with oppression. However, the two works are different in that one has a message with hope and the other one is without any optimism.…

Even though everyone has a dream people generally find a reason to not pursue it. The use of imagery in Harlem intensifies the readers understanding of the consequences. For example, in lines four where Hughes places the image of a festering sore, or line six where the images of rotten meat can bring a reader back to a time he or she once smelled something awful. Even though Langston Hughes expressed the consequences of procrastinating ones dreams and goals Robert Frost provides a clearer understanding to the reader the importance of following ones dreams. CONCLUSION:…

The two pieces of writing “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening” and “"Live like you were Dying"” both have a theme about life, even though “Stopping by the Woods” uses metaphors and symbolism to show it. “Stopping by the Woods” talks about a man traveling with his horse and stopping by the woods when he know he needs to keep going, but it really means to talk about how you should not stop in life but you should keep going to reach your goals. “"Live like you were Dying"” Talks about how you need to make the most out of life, because you never know when it is going to end. “Stopping in the Woods” uses metaphors, symbolism, sensory language, rhyme, and repetition to portray the message. In “Stopping in the Woods” the entire poem is metaphorical…

In the poem by, Langston Hughes, “Dream Variations” Hughes applies the technique of imagery heavily. None of the lines of the excerpt are “extra” or do not serve a purpose to the theme of the poem. The overall theme of the poem has to do with the race issues of the times because of his mentions of “the white day” and “Night comes on gently- dark like me”. His words are not concreate at all they do give off a poetic tone to them. The mood he wrote them with is one of trying to make the reader realize that he is full of hope that one day, when “the white day is done” (or when he and his race won’t be made to seem like a parasite by the white people and society) they won’t have to fight so hard to be respected.…

Robert Frost’s poem “Out, Out--“ appears to be, on the surface, about a young boy who, while working, cuts his hand with a saw and dies. When delving deeper into the poem it seems to be about death. Death comes for everyone, young and old, and it is often sudden and lacking reason. The narrator is originally very involved and emotional in the poem, but in the end becomes very detached.…

Three Strongest Words I really enjoyed the poem, Three Strongest Words. I liked this poem because though the poem was very short, it also was very deep and left me thinking about each word the author described. For instance, when the author wrote about the word silence, saying as soon as you say the word you destroy it I had to stop, and think what she meant. This poem also made me very confused because of the way the author presented the poem. For example, when she described someone speaking the word future, she said the first syllable is in the past.…
