It is commonly believed that most people in the world have their own dreams and aspirations. These dreams and aspirations may vary between having a successful career, being famous, or having a family to take care of, depending on people’s interests, likes and influences. When pursuing them, certain external obstacles may exist that prevent a person from attaining his dreams. These obstacles may include not having sufficient resources, dealing with a family crisis or struggling with an illness. However, there are times when it is people, themselves, who are limitations to their own success. Yet, sometimes pursuing a dream requires a person to move out of their own way. Cheryl was a source of inspiration and encouragement for Walter’s life. Cheryl’s description of her ideal man in her e-Harmony profile inspired Walter to leave behind his inactive life. Also, she motivated Walter to follow LIFE’S magazine motto and she gave him the real meaning of the song ‘Space Oddity’, two simple actions which encouraged Walter to pursue his most cherished dreams. Walter felt attracted to his co-worker Cheryl, so he paid much attention to his words and actions, in which he found the inspiration and encouragement he needed to change his life. Cheryl inspired Walter to become adventurous, brave and creative through the description she gave in her e-Harmony profile about her ideal man. Knowing this description, Walter wished to fit the profile of Cheryl’s ideal man and thus, become an adventurous, brave and creative man. As Walter had never been able to speak to Cheryl before, he had a daydream in which he wished to impress her. Consequently, Walter showed those three attributes by saying: ‘I just live by the ABC’s: Adventurous, Brave, Creative’. Also, Cheryl offered Walter words of encouragement.
