Every living mammal dreams while sleeping. It is something the mind does without one realizing it. On average, one usually spends 122 days out of the year sleeping. Each night one has anywhere from five to seven dreams, that is 610 to 854 dreams per year. Dreams are typically a fantasy that one has about the possibility of doing something or of that something while asleep. Dreaming allows the mind to relax and explore ones deepest thoughts and feelings. Each dream is specifically unique to his or her own mind which shows individuality to each dream. Dreaming allows for a safe place for the subconscious to inhabit during the dreams so it can work through the problems that is challenging him or her. Symbolism is the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. Many have dreams all over the world that feature the same symbol or feeling. For instance, if one dreams of a fish in any way, it is believed the dreamer or someone close to them is pregnant. However, the universal dream of falling has a much deeper meaning. A falling dream is a dream from the dreamer 's subconscious that is trying to tell the dreamer that it feels as though something is spiraling out of control. Whether it be finances, relationships, or a career path the subconscious thoughts are trying to correct the situations at hand. Falling dreams are most common in persons with depression which could increase the symptoms of depression. There are happy meanings to dreams like when one is flying. Flying dreams represent feeling "high" off of life and happiness that the world has to offer to the dreamer. Dreaming of whales is the bringing of large emotions surfacing from consciousness. It is the mind working through situations and now understanding what emotions one is deeply feeling about a subject. Although, they are all going to surface at the same time. Dreaming of large bodies of water such as a lake, ocean or large pond symbolizes the subconscious or ones emotions. It can lead to discovering more about who someone is as a person to better their growth and development. It could lead to further research in areas of the unknown like the subconscious and be able to educate on those topics in the future. Dreaming can cause some to have sleeping disorders because of what each individual mind works, but there is ways to help with sleep disorders. There are programs to help find out what sleeping disorder one has and to know what is triggering the episodes. The joy one gets after receiving a dream that has symbolism to it is a great way to share experiences. Each symbol relates to a different topic and diversity in dreaming is a whole new world. The sleep stages can also be looked at in a different way. The stages can be explored in greater detail knowing what the body does and why it is doing that certain thing. Dreaming can contribute to sleep just as much as sleep contributes to dreaming. There cannot be one without the other. Each must provide its own part in the process. Not all minds are alike so neither is their dreams or what they dream
