Dream catchers were used by Indians to ensure good, peaceful dreams. They hang above the bed and the sweet dreams would find their way through the webbing and slip down the feather to the dreamer. On the other hand, the bad dreams would get caught and tangled in the web and melt away with the first light of day. They are mysterious and are renown for the wonder and joy they bring. Everyone has a symbol for what they want, chiefly to represent the standards of everyday life. "All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together" (Jack Kerouac). My symbol is a dream catcher, it represents good, giving, and peace... That is all I want in every aspect of my life.

That is all I have ever wanted in my life is peace. Dream catchers are wonderful symbols of peace. Dream catchers give dreams of wonder and bliss, with that the mind can be peaceful. Dreams influence our way of thinking more than most realize. With a peaceful mind you are calm. When you are calm you are peaceful with your actions. Then you have good karma! Not to mention most problems can be fixed peacefully. Not everything must have a violent ending. More often than not a multitude of problems can be totally avoided if people were just calm and nice to each other. The difference between a dream catcher and life when it comes to peace is that dream catchers give peace by way of good dreams and life gives peace by way of good things.
The dream catcher is my symbol because it represents everything I want in my life... goodness, giving, and peace. It is how I choose to think and act that makes this as a symbol so relevant to my everyday life. Without action and the right train of mind, nothing can get done.
