Now that I am always done with college, my dream career changed a bit. I still want to be in a surgical room some type of way. My dream goal now is to become a nurse Anesthetist. I prefer to work in the neonatal department and/or the plastic surgery department. Also, my other dream goal is to become a neonatal nurse practitioner. I found a website that I occasionally browsed on to learn about different health professions. The website provides you with the requirements you need to become the particular nurse profession. The first step to become a nurse practitioner is to obtain a bachelor of science in nursing. Once that is completed, you have to become a registered nurse then you have to be certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing. You also have to complete a numbers of years in a hospital setting for clinical experience. To officially become a neonatal nurse practitioner, you will also need a Master of Science in Nursing degree. Other additional skills and knowledge would be obtained from life experiences. The website states that, “NPs need to be critical thinkers: they must obtain relevant information about a person’s health status from a wide variety of sources (the patient’s verbal communication, clinical examination and diagnostic tests) and use that data to independently make evidence-based decisions about when, why and how to address health care needs. They also need to be able to cope well with stress, since their work includes direct involvement with human suffering, emergencies and other pressures”
