Over lap it, layer it, tare things apart on it, just fill it were the instructions, so I did. The rope comes out of from between a woman’s tattooed that stick out from a hole in the wall. It continuously extends from there and intertwines through bright white pillars on the ground level. The almost mile-long rope snakes up the building through horizontal columns that separate each story.…

I love how involved, free, and undefined sculpture can be. Before this class I felt a well done piece of sculpture was clearcut, realistic, and perfect. I’m glad that throughout this class my view has morphed into something much extensive. Life is not perfect so why do people try so hard to hide from the truth.…

I think that the elements we focused more on in this project were Value, Color, and Line. We were required to do a lot of shading which meant putting different values in different places to create the illusion of shadow. We used soft pastels to color, and we had to make many lines to form the objects depicted in the Still Life. As for the principles of Art, I believe we mostly focused on Proportion, Contrast, and Unity. We had to match the proportion of the objects to the ones in the smaller picture, and some contrast had to be made with the background and the foreground, and the entire drawing had to show Unity.…

Katach (“form and design”) is the Japanese word that best translates the concept of “art”. A word which implies that “art is synonymous with living, functional purpose, and spiritual simplicity” (Walkup). Zen Art is by its nature spiritual as it was “done not by professional artists, but by Zen monks and nuns who spent extremely disciplined lives of meditation, in a search for enlightenment and awakening to the true nature of reality”(Sweet). The core foundation of the art-form is the belief that the true character as well as the level of spiritual realization of the monk or nun were transposed into the painting itself. The painting style employed in Katach was very quick and evocative, as its main focus was on the inherent nature of the aesthetic…

As designers and creators we have endless methods to create art, we can express ourself in any way we want. With interior design you will always find yourself creating new environments, so is a common thought to imagine that a client may ask you to design his/her new living room with a contemporary style, of course, for this design you need to add objects such as furniture in order for the client to have a clear vision of how this space is going to look like. I was fascinated to learn about the elements in Art. I had always thought that art had no organization, guidance or system. I thought that people just painted or drew pretty much whatever they wanted with no apparent rules. The Visual Elements that Getlein mentions on chapter 4 consist of the following; line shape and mass, light, color, texture and pattern and last but not least; time and motion (Getlein, 2012). These elements are intrinsically woven in art!…
