The drama Tender Offer is a play that demonstrates the relationship of a young girl and her father. The Father in this play is not very involved in his daughter’s life and seems to be more involved in business. The daughter feels much neglected from her father because he missed her dance recital and was extremely late to pick her up from dance class. This drama demonstrates theme, dramatic irony, and has a symbol in it. Tender Offer demonstrates theme very clearly throughout this drama. The main theme to this work is that family means more than everything. This is demonstrated throughout the play because Paul is continuously blowing off his daughter Lisa throughout the story and Lisa keeps getting very hurt by it. This symbol is the White Knight. The White Knight is when a Big business saves a smaller business by not letting shareholders buy it when the small business is in trouble. This symbol in this story resembles how Paul keeps trying to be the White Knight by making offers to save his relationship with his daughter. Those offers consist of asking her how school was, how dance was, and offering to pick her up from dance. None of these offers really save the relationship with Lisa because he’s not actually taking a real interest into her life. The symbol begins to really come through at the end of the story when Paul shows that he really takes an interest and he wants her to perform in front of him and then he starts dancing with her. This really symbolizes the White Knight because Paul totally saves the relationship by taking an action and showing a real interest in Lisa’s life and really connecting with her.
