My mother wanted me to excel in school, which is most definitely a virtue, but tough when your father prioritizes sports. I had trouble picking which to prioritize because if I started to do poorly in either, I would disappoint one of my parents. Even though my parents have had a large impact on who I am today, there is much more to me than what my family has influenced. The social influences that I had been exposed to have been both promoted me to grow as a person while also restricting me from changing. This includes a few different, but equally important forces which have made me who I am. These forces include my region, social class, status, race, and religion .
