Dramatic Impact Of Romeo And Juliet

Improved Essays
The most dramatic impact from Romeo and Juliet in Acts 1 and 2 came from the male characters. I believe the male characters made a more striking impact on the audience by how they react to different situations and the emotions that they feel. First, Romeo effects the audience by how he views women. Romeo inquires, "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty until this night." (1014) The only reason Romeo came to the Capulet party was to see Rosaline because he was in love with her. When Romeo described Juliet's beauty, it proved that he only loves and views women by their looks. Once Romeo saw Juliet, Rosaline was history. Next, Tybalt contributes to drama through his stubborn and fiery characteristics. "Tybalt,

The intangible love, by far the most powerful human emotion. And the only way someone with the greatest power on Earth can be truly harmed is by taking that power away from them. As seen in countless examples throughout this collection, those that lose love often end up destroyed by tragedy. Beasts materialize from the shadows where love once shined and pounce on the bereft. The decision that I found to be particularly hasty was Romeo's decision to commit suicide. I believe that this decision was impulsive and fueled by Romeo's emotions. It lead to not only his death but his lover Juliet as well. If Romeo had been more thoughtful instead of letting his grief and desperate thoughts overwhelm him, he could of created a different ending for the play, one not as tragic. Before Romeo made such a decision, he had been waiting for Friar Lawrence in Mantua to send him news of the uplifting sorts when Balthazar had told him that Juliet had died.…

When Romeo loves Rosaline it is only because of her appearance making his feelings for her very superficial and shallow way: “Tis the way/ To call hers, exquisite, in question more/… What doth her beauty serve but as a note” (1.1.223-230). On the other hand, once Romeo meets Juliet, he loves her for who she is because like Juliet, he is willing to kill himself to be with her: “O here/ will I set up my everlasting rest/ And shake the yoke of inauspicious stars” (5.3.109-111). Despite the the opinion that Romeo never loved Rosaline and that he was waiting for Juliet all along, in the time that Romeo was entranced by Rosaline, he really believed that she was the perfect woman for him.…

In Conclusion, I think that Romeo is a young, inexperienced and impatient but loyal and brave boy. I think that his naivety plays a huge rule in this because love was taken as an extravagant feeling to have when it was not truly happy as the lovers can experience heartbreak and many other obstacles. It seems as if Romeo only more cautious and deliberate, his devastating ending could have been prevented (even though we have not finished the book yet). Amongst friends especially Mercutio, Romeo shows signs of his social and quick witted persona, even with his fond of verbal jousting that is mainly about sex. Lastly, Romeo is like every other male in the world who only unveils their true self to the people who they trust or who understand them.…

“Tragedy is an imitation of an action that is complete and whole… (Aristotle 31)”. This theory conveyed by Aristotle in his renowned work Poetics expresses the idea that a successful tragedy consists of specific principles that reoccur in classic literature. The theory emphasizes that a tragedy represents reality and universal truths rather than historical particulars. This is achieved by creating a tightly-woven cause and effect chain or “unity of action” that centers around the plot rather than the personalities of the characters. Also, the plot of the tragedy should have complex, specific, and coherent turning points, that are a part of the “unity of action”.…

To begin, some people may think that the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, should not be taught in school, while others think it should. Although the idea of reading Romeo and Juliet in English class may make students groan and imagine the worst, there are many benefits as to why reading such a difficult and popular type of literature exist. In my opinion, I think Romeo and Juliet should be included in a school’s curriculum because of how helpful it could be to those students. There are many benefits, including that students will have a better understanding of how to step out of their comfort zone and will allow students to understand more complex pieces of literature in life. Also, students will learn new vocabulary and learn about the 15th century society and customs.…
