This generation is filled with talented artists, each conveying a different message to their fans/audience through their songs and lyrics. An artist who is truly inspiring is Aubrey Graham, also known for his stage name, “Drake”. Drake’s songs portray deep sentiment, explains his point of view, and tells his stories of past hardships. In an interview he stated that he makes his music for, “night-time driving.” By this he means that night-time drive everyone needs every now and then to clear your mind and express emotion to yourself. His father Dennis Graham was African-American and his religion was Catholic, while his mother Sandi Graham was a white Canadian and her religion was Jewish. Drake’s father Dennis used to perform with rock star Jerry Lee Lewis as a drummer and his mother Sandi came from a musically cultured background as well. He spent time a great amount of time with his father, which brought him a better understanding and appreciation for music that he, unknowingly, later would incorporate into his very own. In an interview, Drake’s father says he used to play piano to him while he was still in his mother’s womb and that later on he taught young Drake how to play the piano. He made a generous amount of income with the releasement of his albums but not enough to continue his career as a solo rapper. With great luck, after stressing for where he’ll earn money, he was contacted by rapper Lil Wayne and was asked to join him in his America’s Most Wanted Tour. During his collaboration with Lil Wayne, it was smooth sailing to stardom. He later dropped his next album, So Far Gone, which included his famous single, “Best I Ever Had,” which made it to the Billboard’s Hot 100. Not long after, Drake signed to the record label Young Money Entertainment, owned by rapper Lil Wayne. In 2010 came another successful album which topped No.1 in the United States and his home country, Canada. This album was so successful it made platinum, which most likely made Drake really proud after much hard work and dedication was put into this album. It was no surprise that a year after he had another album releasement titled Take Care with amazing songs which he received a Grammy for in 2013 for Best Rap Album, such a prestigious honor after much dedication and thought was put into producing his music.
Drake never lets his fan down, because his 2015 album releasement was another great album. The album titled, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, was nominated for awards like the Billboard Music Award, BET Hip-Hop
