Drag Racing Research Paper

The year 2004, in Caneville, Oregon, The Caneville Control of Illegal Racing Clubs Ordinance passed by a unanimous vote in order to correct the deadly problem of drag races. Drag racing is a type of motorcar racing where, 2 or more participants test how fast their cars can go in comparison to each other. This type of racing has become a serious issue within the past few years, even resulting in three deaths and plenty of minor injuries in Caneville. On the night of May 21, 2005, Dana Kendall, age 20, met up with some of their friends at The Caneville Community College parking lot to drive over to The Heavy Burger to eat. Vanessa Foley, age 19, and her passenger, Mo Lancaster, age 18, saw Dana and their friends. Vanessa pulled into the lot to check it out. As Dana and Miss Vanessa have had prior disputes to this night, Dana wanted to leave. Therefore, they left as quickly as possible. Kendall, the court should find the defendant, Dana Kendall, guilty of the misdemeanor violation of the Caneville Racing Clubs Ordinance, but innocent of Speed Racing on highway, violation of ORS 811.125; and Manslaughter in the Second Degree, violation of ORS 163.125. With all the evidence in sum, the definitions of the charges, and the common sense of the jury, the task of rightfully placing verdicts on Dana Kendall's accusations should be an easy one. They might have loved cars, but they valued their life more. Thus not participating in the preparation before the two vehicles stopped at the intersection, nor the life taking act of speeding/racing. For the aforementioned reasons, Dana Kendall respectfully asks the Court to overturn the decision of the two out of the three charges, Speed Racing on highway, violation of ORS 811.125; and Manslaughter in the Second Degree, violation of ORS
