Today’s global business environment is characterized by a constant flux of new talent and technological expertise, which entails an increasing emphasis on effective leadership. Because organizations today demand the best from their leaders, Lawler (2008) asserts that the manner in which leaders identify and develop their most important asset determines to a great degree the success of the enterprise; so managing people wisely should be at the core of all district improvement work, suggests ( ). Willie Keepum’s faulty leadership style has been detrimental to Manny Flavor Cookie worker’s morale, which has in turn adversely affected product quality. He centers all the decision making process on him, stating: "I 'm ultimately responsible, so I 'll make the decisions”. He also complains of employees’ bad attitudes, and thinks that a lot of them have become conceited and don 't care about cookies quality, so he threatens to fire all of his subordinates if they don’t cooperate, and makes his intentions clear to the company’s owner. Manny knows that Willie can be heavy-handed in his management style and that he believes workers come to work either motivated or not. Willie’s approach to managing people is autocratic, authoritarian at can be further called a dictatorship. In this style of leadership, the decision-making process is usually unilateral; team members are not consulted even if their input could be useful; the communication is described as one way. Bass (1990) describes autocratic leadership as “directive, coercive, cold, punitive, task-oriented, persuasive and closed”. In the same way, Willie tells the workers what to do and expect them to do it, regardless of the conditions. In addition, he lacks personal accountability as a leader and blames it all on the workers. This situation can be very stressful on the workers, leading to a rather unpleasant work environment and the low morale exhibited by the workers at Manny’s company. Authoritarian leadership style may be successful in hierarchized organizations with high power distance, where employees are expected to be obedient. For instance, in Cameroon, 13.1% of the adults are unemployed and 75.8% are underemployed (Afrinquinfos, 2014); those who are lucky enough to get a job have no choice but follow the rules, they have no voice.
