Dr. Uma Shidhaan Chapter 1 Summary

Dr. Uma Sridharan works at Columbus State University in the Turner College of Business as a Professor who teaches Accounting and Finance. In addition, she is the Department Chair of Accounting and Finance. Also, she is a faculty member who works along side with Clearview Hall – Residence Life at Columbus State University to be able to meet the freshmen who attend CSU and help them advance in their career field of study. Her research was not yet specifically given to me, but she works with CSU and the community in Columbus, Georgia by preparing tax reports associated with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). She has a genuine heart for people and loves to assist them in their needs, especially in their finances. She came to the United States from India on a student visa to pursue a career in her field of study. She noticed that people in the United States have a hard time with preparing taxes. As a result, she figured that there must be a way she can help people with this issue. In addition, she loves to teach people because it amazes her to share the knowledge of Accounting and Finance to other people. In fact, she uses the phrase, “Accounting is easy, once you get the hang of playing around with the numbers.” In a word, her way of serving the community is by teaching people/students the proper way to be successful in handling the numbers in and out of a business setting. In a word, I must state that I do not yet have all of the answers pertaining to my research on Dr. Uma Sridharan. However, this is the information I discovered about her from my knowledge of getting to know her for the period of time I had a chance to. …show more content…
