The main emphasis of Dr. Thoennes’ lecture is that “God is for you.” He explains that the various attributes of God all work together for our good, and that “Everything that is true of God…is working on your behalf.” This is an amazing truth, and one that is sometimes hard to believe. Dr. Thoennes notes that trials are to be expected in the Christian life, but this does not mean that God is not for us. He reminds his students that it is vital to remember the goodness and kindness and love of God as demonstrated in Christ; knowing who we are in Christ will give us the strength we need to face any situation.
