At age eighteen, Theodor attended Dartmouth College. After graduating from Dartmouth, Theodor went to Oxford University in England and studied literature from 1925-1926. Dr. Seuss was more interested in telling a good story than he was telling a true story. He later left Oxford and became a cartoonist. In 1955, Dartmouth gave him his first honorary doctorate. Theodor became one of the few people to earn a Ph.D. by dropping out of graduate school. Seuss then pursued his love of drawing.
