Prepare for an interesting story. The story of my life, Theodore Geisel. I am very honored and excited to tell you the story of my life. You all may know me as Dr.Seuss, the guy who wrote “ The Cat in the Hat” & “ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”. Everybody know’s about Dr.Seuss but many don’t know about the person before Dr.Seuss, before there was Dr.Seuss there was Theodore Geisel. I was born on March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. I was an adventurous and curious little boy, I started off by drawing pictures and then my father inspired me to write poetry. Which led me to Springfield Central High School (1917-1921) Where I graduated, and did excellent in my art class as a Freshman. After I graduated from Springfield in 1921 I enrolled in Dartmouth College. I …show more content…
I earned a lot of money drawing. By 1936 my wife & I had traveled to over 30 countries. One of the known favorites today was turned down by between 20 to 43 publishers. But I then gained recognition by a motor boat company which led me to writing my book in WWII. I drew over 400 cartoons in 2 years. One of my favorites published was Dr.Seuss goes to war. I ended up joining the army as a Captain and a commander of the Animation Department. While I was in the army I was awarded the Legion Of Merit. I next a had a major motion picture Gerald McBoing-Boing and I won the Academy Award for Animated Short Film. When I returned to California with my wife, I wrote a lot of books. But after all the joy and fun I had with my wife everything came to an end … My wife committed suicide. She committed suicide because of the pain and suffering she went through with her cancer. It was a very hard thing to deal with. But when my wife had died I fell on my secret lover Audrey too support me. Shortly after a couple of months I married Audrey Geisel on June 21, 1968.
