My subject that I 've observed appeared to be in Erikson’s stage of Toddler: autonomy versus shame and doubt. Like all other children, at RD 's age, she is just beginning to explore the surrounding environment as well as the rest of the world. A child like RD, although she 's very young, she starts to learn and explore the world by feeling with all her god given senses. Within the chapters of lifespan development, it has stated that in Erik Erikson 's autonomy versus shame is a process that is very relevant to a child 's growth. If the autonomy in the theory is thwarted with, then the consequences might have a great impact on a child. These consequences include a development of sense of shame; in which it prevents a healthy acceptance of limits and the child feels devastated by small crises. During this period the child acquires motor skills and develops a sense of self. She is capable of playful activity and imaginative thinking. While doing various educational exercises, she can focus on discrete information but she is not capable of logical, discursive thought.
