Dr. Phil McGraw is an American Tv show host, psychologist, and author. He has had many struggles that he has had to overcome to be the person he is today. He has achieved much in his life. Dr. Phil is one of the top paid Tv show host in America, he has been nominated several times for award shows.
Born in Vinita, Oklahoma, on September 1, 1950 to Anne and Joe McGraw. He was their third and only male child, Phillip Calvin McGraw. McGraw has two older sisters, Deana and Donna and one younger sister, Brenda. His father worked on an oil rig, but he wanted to pursue a life in psychology. One day his father quit his job at the rig, and uprooted his family to Kansas so he could achieve his dream a psychologist.
McGraw attended Shawnee Mission North High school in Kansas. His senior year he was awarded a scholarship to the University of Tulsa for football.He was a 6’4 middle linebacker. During one of his games he got badly injured and was not able to continue playing football. He transferred to Midwestern State University. He started studying to be a psychologist like his father. In 1975 McGraw got his bachelor's degree in psychology. He continued his studies at at North Texas, and achieved his Masters and Doctorate degree.

He soon quit as a therapist and launched a self-motivation seminar called “Pathways”. He founded a company in 1989 called “Courtroom services”. He helped trial lawyers build cases. Through this he met Oprah Winfrey, who was being sued by one of the guests on her show, so she hired McGraw to help her with the case. McGraw then won the case and became a regular expert on “Oprah”. From that, on September 16, 2002 his first episode of his own show was aired, a one-hour talk show where he counsels guests with his blunt but caring personality.
