Dr. Milos R. Popovic and MyndMove With the constant advancements in the world of science and technology, Canada is very fortunate to be responsible some of the greatest inventions, and have some of the world’s leading scientists. Although we have an abundance of intelligent innovators in the field of biology, one in particular stood out to me; Dr. Milos R. Popovic. He is the founder of MyndTec., and the man behind the leading Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) therapy product, MyndMove. The idea of the invention, fighting paralysis, is extremely intriguing. A disability people once thought would never be cured, is now showing drastic changes, and hope for a permanent solution. Mostly a result of the valuable research of Canada’s Milos Popovic.

The bulk of the research for MyndMove was conducted locally, at the Toronto Rehab Institute, owned by the University Health Network. There, the inventor, also a professor, had all the supplies he needed, and an endless supply of interns if he needed it. If an individual wanted to be involved in this field, and a part of future advancements to FES, University of Toronto would be ideal, but the McMaster University would also be a good option. Both of these schools offer prestigious programs in the field of biomedical engineering, and both undergraduate and postgraduate. University of Toronto’s Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering would be optimal because of its research themes, and connections. The University works closely with the Toronto Rehab Institute, and it would be an additional asset to have Dr. Popovic as a professor. Alternatively, McMaster University offers like courses to University of Toronto, and similarly has both undergraduate and postgraduate schooling. Needless to say, both of these post-secondary educations would put you on a fast-track to the field of Biomedical
