Maxwell began dedicating himself full time to writing, speaking, and consulting. Under those circumstances, he has written numerous books focusing on leadership. He is one of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Business Week’s best-selling authors. He has sold over 21 million books, and has written over 30 books. He has also had the honor of being one of the 25 authors and artists named to Amazon’s 10th Anniversary Hall of Fame (John Maxwell, n.d.).
Dr. Maxwell’s belief and philosophy of leadership are what sets him above the rest. He created and founded EQUIP a leadership program. Equip focuses on Coaching, Leadership Training, Speaking Publicly, Mentoring Youth, and Coaching. This program is a non-profit organization that has trained more than 5 million leaders in 126 countries worldwide (John Maxwell, n.d).
In a nutshell, even though one cannot ignore his accomplishment, it is not all this that makes him a great leader. What makes him a great leader is his passion for what he does. His philosophy mentions “everything rises and falls on leadership” (John Maxwell, n.d.). He truly wants to help individuals reach their highest potential; hence why he made a career for himself out of teaching, while influencing others about leadership.
