He was also a nonviolent protester and encouraged others to do the same. When Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat, he was the recruited as the spokesman in the Bus boycott. He also supported others when they made their own ways to fight the segregation laws. He also did many other things to fight back and got arrested most of the time. But this just helped their cause because they were getting unjust punishments. He even got JFK’s attention when he got arrested one time. During one of his demonstrations, all of the people there were angry because he put children in harm's way. Next, they marched on Washington D.C. and there, his “ I have a Dream” speech took place. Finally, the law that gave African Americans rights was passed. He not only gained rights, but he was also the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace prize. And was named “Man of the Year” by Time magazine. Through the 1960’s, there were still struggles in life. During a march, the marchers got attacked by police. They got injured and 17 of them were hospitalized. Two more marches took place and in the last march, King was there. It was the same as the first march but instead, they kneeled in prayer and turned away. While others used any means necessary, his protests were peaceful.
