This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." He uses this to show that the promissory note that was signed which was a promise to all men that would guarantee the same rights took effect to every person except African Americans. With the Declaration of Independence and the Emancipation Proclamation both being signed before the civil rights movement Martin Luther King uses those to show that not only does he have a nation by his side he has supreme authority too. Martin Luther King Jr. gave a wonderful and persuasive speech that hit home for a lot of people. This speech was a real eye-opening and emotional speech for many Americans especially in today’s society. Dr. King talked about how one day we would all be able to come together to go to the same schools, to live in the same neighborhood, and work at the same jobs not knowing . Overall I don’t think there was any rhetorical appeal in this speech that needed to more talked about or improved, because I feel he has said what he had to. I do think Dr. King used more pathos than any other appeal in this speech because this speech really brung out what the civil rights movement was all about. I think for African Americans this speech really hits home because we have this historical figure that’s been through everything we can think for us. The pathos appeals in this speech really bring out how bad Dr. Martin Luther King wanted equality across the nation and how far he would go to overcome segregation and discrimination. Through all the marching and the madness that was going on during this time Dr. King made up in his mind that he was not going to stop until he got equality. Having that support system behind him also made this emotional too, to just see that not only did he have black people be he also had people from all races stand up against what was wrong and stand up for what was right.
