Dr. Marie T. Hilliard: Character, Choices, And Community

Character, Choices, and Community Dr. Marie T. Hilliard, a retired Kernel in the army and a member of Malta, expresses concern over ethical advances. We, the people, are subjected to ethical questioning when put into certain circumstances. Dr. Hilliard stated three scenarios that are called in at Malta repeatedly. As a concern citizen, she expresses her thoughts and concerns of people who have to deal with ethical events. The first scenario is of an “ob-gyn- service, Jordan, a lesbian nurse “gay” gene basis for mom to choose abortion of unborn daughter.” Concerns expressed over being forced to give an abortion that violates our human being. If someone won’t do it, you have to ask someone to do it for you. The final scenario is, “public relations firm/bathroom letter mandate. Charlisse, transgender owner who markets service. Doesn’t want to service the school when it dignifies her gender. each scenario represents ethical abuse. A lot of nurses and other people are being subjected to doing this against their will. This relates to class because it goes with ethical and moral standings. We are taught that our choices, character, and community effects everything that goes on in our daily lives and within ourselves. Dr. Hilliard mentioned that the goal is not to achieve evil. Our decisions are not meant to harm or hurt ourselves or the community. What catches the eye is the view of abortion and being forced to do something against your will. We, as human beings, are degraded and forced on our knees when we’re different. We shouldn’t be forced to participate or believe in something when it goes against everything that we were brought up with or raised ourselves to be.
