When I asked about the role of his experience of global faculty community professor Kurtz answered “is everything.” He actually holds more communication with international faculty than the US faculty. Certainly she had communication with some, but it was not too often. One whole semester in Brazil, on the other hand, brought her the opportunity to build up a deeper and more grounded global community with her Brazilians colleagues. The only think she did not like about her semester in Brazil was the fact that her students were quite limited. Because of the language barrier, her class consisted on bilingual Brazilian graduate students only, who were not many compared to the total of the students. Yet she is glad to the fact that she introduced feminist theory to Brazilian scholars, or at least help them to open the doors of sociology of feminism on a global scale. Ever since her global community has increased. This does not mean that she would not had communication with international faculty before, only that the communication was very low (about once a year). After five years now, her communication with international faculty is indeed decreasing, but it is definitively much more grounded than before. She can count with her Brazilian peers anytime of the year and she is looking forward to re-visit her now friends to share more knowledge and
