He left his family at home and went to Germany by himself to pursue his dreams and save lives. While Feng Shan Ho was in Germany he visited had gone to many concentration camps to help the injured, sick, and the weak. Many people knew him as a hero not just because he saved people’s lives but just his spirit alone. When he did retired in 1973 it was to go home to be with his family. One was when he was awarded the Righteous Among the Nations, which is an award bestowed by Jerusalem on Non-Jews who helped Jews at the risk of their own life. He is in the Yad Vashem Museum of the Holocaust in Jerusalem. Even being nominated for this award is an honor but to win is like being accepted for president. The Anti Defamation League Honored Feng Shan Ho because of his thousand visas given to Jewish refugees. Ho was one of the first diplomate resources who took extraordinary measures to do the right thing. From 1938-1940 he served as the Chinese Consul General in Vienna……. Feng Shan Ho had face many obstacles during his life. One obstacle was he never had a father figure in his life. His father died when Feng Shan Ho was seven years old. Ho had no male figure to look up since his father passing. Although his family was devastated Feng had never given up. He went to school had gotten a degree and went off to accomplish the goals that he set for himself. Lastly, Feng Shan had always kept high spirits and hopes no matter what was happening around
