In 1995, Misty Copeland received a letter stating her rejection because of her body to the Ballet Academy. Misty was devastated by the news she read, at the age of 13 from that day forward devoted herself to become a better dancer.
Misty has been working hard ever since, dancing at the San Francisco Ballet School practicing every day, she is one of the first African American Ballet dancers.. At the age of 15, she won an award, first place at the Music Center Spotlight Awards. She now has been in 15 species showing off her amazing skill, keeping her promise.

Some of the of companies are American Express, Diet Dr. Pepper, and Under Armor. Under Armor made launched a video of “I will, I want” explaining her life story of when she was little and how she is now stronger than ever. The Under Armor video was a hit, it got over nine million views.
Now Misty has written a book called Firebird explaining how to be strong and how nothing can stop you in life except yourself. Misty once said, “Never let anyone tell you, you can't do what you love”. This quote has been used all around the world, inspiring people telling them they can do anything if only they put their mind to it. At the age of 33 now Misty Copeland has achieved so much, with her heart and will power. She is an outstanding dancer, she now has the perfect body type and has been accepted into many Ballet academies. She has written a book to inspire women and the young girl all over the world. Her marvelous talent has and still to this day brought her to many places. Some people don't consider dance a sport but in Misty's eyes it's her art her passion, it is her sport her love.
