I am including this story because I think that what I am going to do in this and the next chapter can be compared to David fighting with Goliath. However, in my case, the Goliath is Dr Brazelton together with all those who have been parroting his toilet training method since the 60th, and this includes the P&G - Pampers manufacturer.
When I started investigate the question of disposable nappies, it was the Dr Brazelton’s “dictum” that came to my awareness first and so I concluded, that he was solely responsible for what has been happening to our children since the disposable nappies, called Pampers, were introduced by P&G in 1961.
However, I realized later, much later, that this is not how it all started, although the influence of Dr Brazelton in the early 90’s is really the beginning of what has happened to the “politics” of toilet training. Brazelton advised American parents that children should not be toilet

As a matter of fact, it was neither Brazelton or Procter & Gamble, but It was an American engineer Victor Mills who was employed by P&G. It is quite possible that this name will sound unfamiliar to you, so let us first talk about Mills before we discuss Brazelton’s role in spreading the false benefits of disposable nappies through the most of the world.
It is said that Victor Mills (1897-1997) changed the way millions of parents attend to their infants. He touched the lives - or at least the behinds - of just about every American born in the past two generations, and with the help of Dr Brazelton’s popularity and academic position, including his writings about the child’s development and toilet training, he put children all over the world into disposable nappies. It was said that Mills revolutionized child care with the invention of the disposable diaper, and I will return to the term “revolutionize”
