Dr. Ben Carson's Personal Blueprint For Success

Think Big is Dr. Ben Carson’s philosophy of life and his personal blueprint for success. He uses it in any and every circumstance he can, even if it does not seem like it. The letters stand for talent, honesty, insight, nice, knowledge, books, in-depth learning, and God. For myself, however, the uttermost important ideas are honesty, knowledge, and God. These are, in my opinion, the most reliable concepts that will push one farther in life. Honesty is a trait that all people should posses, no matter what. It shows tremendous character, in any and everybody. Dr. Carson uses honesty every chance he receives. For example, when he was in college, he needed to retake an exam. Dr. Carson writes of a Yale psychology professor who told Dr. Carson, at the time a junior, and the other students in the class—identified by Dr. Carson as Perceptions 301—that their final exam papers had “inadvertently burned,” requiring all 150 students to retake it. The new exam, Dr. Carson recalled in the book, was much tougher. All the students but Dr. Carson walked out, planning to mislead the professor and say they did not regard the memo saying the exam date was moved up. “The professor came toward me. Ben Carson’s Think Big to help achieve success. With these beliefs, and the others from the phrase, one can achieve much, including Dr. Carson himself. They helped him go from the class Dummy, to a prominent and notable neurosurgeon. All he did was apply those three concepts to his life in a way that anyone can do. In order to use this system, all one has to do is always be up-front, excel in school, put their trust in God, and practice the other approaches in a simple but competent way.
